An exceptional Shakhrisabz Court Susani Silk on cotton Measurements: 244 cms x 366cms or 8ft x 12 ft Circa 1800 or earlier. With fine early silk ikat lining. It is very elegant in its subtle use of colour and very Moghul in design. Although more typical of a style of embroidery from Nurata, the quality of the silk and dyes, including murex,( see glossary) and the superb borders could indicate that this is from Shakhrisyabz.
