Hand screen printed cotton.Circa 1920 by Dorothy Martin.(mentor of Enid Marx)
Block printed and hand finished cotton, English, circa mi1920's
In the 20's these lively childlike designs were very popular. After the devastaion of the First World War, designs that involved hand finishing were very avant-garde. They were a refreshing contrast to machine made products. Many viewed machines as the cause of so much devastation.
